vihara

ever been to a "vihara" (buddhist temple) before?
well if you don't,,
follow this short trip (via photos) to know and figure out what a temple looks like inside and out...here's a special tour guide from lamers who'll take you to this short trip...
let's welcome here,,
WENNY!! (*applause)

"ehem2x,,hi everyone... i'm wenny...
it's a pleasure for me to be a tour guide for all of you here,,
all~~~ around the world~~~
well let's get started..."
"the above picture indicate the parking space for cars...
it's really a big space that we can't photograph all of it into a picture...
so here in this "vihara budhi bhakti"
could get so crowded on a special occasion or event that they need such a big space"
"if you haven't seen this before,,
this is the so called palm tree"
"every sunday,,
buddhist students around batam would gather up here for 'sekolah minggu' and 'kebaktian'..."
"hmm~ a wood?"
"adults would usually come to pray and worship our god"
"the 'hio',,
used to pray for the god,,
just burn a little on the edge of it and then start praying...
it produces a unique smell,,
which is why it's a symbol of 'keharuman' in buddhist teaching..."
"the one above,,
with the spiral shape is also hio"
"when you're praying,,
you kneel...
but if there's no space for you to do that,,
you may do it standing,,
don't forget to do it with respect...
you don't want to offend the god and gives a misconception for those around you..."
"it sort of a burning space,,
some papers are made to burn after you've done praying"
"when there's an event,,
vihara would likely put this huge hio out..."
"there you go~
vihara budhi bhakti"

"below are some pictures showing sculptures or figures of our gods"

"there's a pond too"
"and this below are some pictures taken from the wall"

"well that's all for today's tour,,
please come by again,,
and i'll gladly took you again to a nice tour...
hope you enjoy it... =p"
